Erwin Olaf in Palm Springs, Florida

Celebrating 40 years of visual freedom by Erwin Olaf. The new photo series of Palm Springs and Shanghai. Now in the Gemeente museum the Hague.

Erwin explores the relationship between a constructed dream world and reality.

My favorite work is this one: American Dream, Portrait of Alex. A white male kneels down. Just like the African-American quarterback Colin Kaepernick who knelt during the national anthem in protest at police violence and discrimination. His resignation by the NFL has just been repelled after nationwide protests with the slogan: #imwithkap

Even without this story you would recognize his style; sexy and perfectly staged.
